What is ABA Free Legal Answers?

Free Legal Answers is a virtual legal advice clinic. Qualifying users post their civil legal question to their state's website, or to the federal site for immigration and federal veterans’ questions. Users will then be emailed when their question receives a response. Attorney volunteers, who must be authorized to provide pro bono assistance in their state, log in to the website, select questions to answer, and provide legal information and advice. Volunteer attorneys will not answer criminal law questions.

Participating states have their own page where qualifying residents will post their question. The ABA Federal page allows qualified users to post questions about immigration or federal veterans’ issues. Look at your state's page or the federal page for more information. Free Legal Answers is a project of the American Bar Association's Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service. If you would like more information about the Free Legal Answers site, please visit the Committee's Free Legal Answers website. Please be advised, the National Site Administrator will not respond to email requests for legal assistance.
